Job Description
The Assistant Track and Field Throws Coach will be responsible for coaching all throwing events, supporting various aspects of a Division 1 athletics program, and performing administrative tasks as needed. This full-time role requires a strong background in coaching and/or competitive collegiate experience in throwing events. The position offers full benefits and requires active collaboration with other coaching staff, academic advisors, and support personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coach all throwing events.
- Required to be at all team practices, home and away competitions.
- Recruiting Coordinator: recruit athletes in all throwing events.
- Prepare appropriate recruiting documentation before and after official visits.
- Complete and submit monthly contact logs on the recruiting software.
- Document and submit weekly CARA logs.
- Inventory and maintain all throwing equipment and storage.
- Assist in teaching the track & field class (throwing events).
- Design annual training for all throwing events.
- Communicate and work closely with academic advisors, athletic trainers and strength and conditioning staff.
- Attend departmental staff/compliance meetings.
- Assist with inventory and distribution of team gear.
- Be actively involved in all team travel.
- Prepare all throwing equipment for travel.
- Prepare required travel documentation after trips.
- Assist with College and HS Camps, team activities and all home competitions.
- Assist with all team and department Fundraiser efforts.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master's degree preferred
- Coaching experience and/or competitive college experience in throwing events at the Division 1 level
