Description of Work
Assist in developing athletic performance research and testing initiatives for the Nebraska Athletic Performance Lab (NAPL). Responsibilities include the direct interface with various athletic teams and to provide meaningful, accurate, and clearly communicated information to coaching staff and performance staff members. Individual will work directly with University of Nebraska entities and external companies/vendors that supply data to Nebraska Athletics to obtain data for analyses. Individual will also interact with recruiting staff, coaches, and performance teams (sports psychology, etc.) to deliver data-informed reports and statistics to support and augment decision-making processes of practitioners in Nebraska Athletics. Individual will support data-informed decisions including player recruitment, player development, player evaluation, and coaching.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Exercise Science, Psychology, or closely related field. Two years of direct experience working with an NCAA Division I Department of Athletics, professional sports organization, and/or other elite sporting institutions (e.g. USOC, etc.). Direct experience with player development data and wearable technologies (e.g., Catapult). Direct experience with at least one visualization tool (e.g., Power BI). Excellent oral and written communication skills required with the ability to report and present relevant results in a clear and efficient manner.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD or PhD Candidature in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, or related field. Knowledge of various statistical analysis methods. Direct experience with statistical packages including SAS, SPSS, R and/or Python preferred. General understanding of the rules, strategies and concepts associated with football, basketball, and/or collegiate-level sports.
