**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:**

 

The purpose of the Strategy Program is to help student-athletes who are struggling academically find success and develop independence.

 
- Demonstrate the ability to motivate and provide academic support strategies to student-athletes such as time management, organization, test-taking, developing a writing process, scaffolding, etc.
- Act professionally at all times and serve as a positive role model
- Have the willingness to comply with UAA, NCAA and UF rules
- Attend mandatory trainings
- Maintain thorough knowledge of what constitutes a violation of the rules
- Report concerns about students to the Learning Specialist(s) and/or Academic Counselor
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and students
- Show reliability with time commitments
 

**MINIMUM EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:**

 
- Be enrolled as a graduate or PhDstudent and/or working professional in his/her field
- Good time management skills with attention to detail when completing paperwork/tutoring reports

What is the pay?  
The pay level varies depending on experience, educational background and other factors.  
  
How many hours per week will be required?  
Hours will vary depending ontutor time availability and student demands for services.  
  
Where does tutoring occur?  
All tutoring takes place in The Otis Hawkins Center for Academic &amp; Personal Excellence located inside Farrior Hall on campus. Hours of operation are below.  
_Fall and Spring:_ Monday - Thursday 8am – 10pm, Friday 8am – 5pm and Sunday 4-10pm.  
_Summer A:_ Monday - Thursday 8:30am – 9pm and Friday 8:30am – 3pm.  
 _Summer B:_ Monday - Thursday 8:30am – 10pm, Friday 8:30am – 3pm, Sunday 6-9pm.  
  
Can I tutor if I have another job on campus?  
Yes. The University Athletic Association is a separate entity from UF.All tutors must complete UAA HR paperwork and attend a new tutor orientation even ifthey are a UF employee.  
  
How will I be notified if I am considered for a tutoring position?  
Applicantswill be contacted via e-mail iftheir qualifications match with our current tutor needs.  
 _Note:_ Ifan applicantdoes not hear from us, it meanstheir skills are not needed for the current semester. There is no need to resubmit anapplication since all applications will be placed in a file for future consideration.  
  
What happens if I am selected to be a tutor?  
Ifan applicantis selected,they will be contacted by a member of the Learning Services staff.Candidates will then attend a UAA tutorial orientation.They will also be required to attend a mandatory compliance and new hire orientation. During the orientation,they will learn about all tutorial procedures.
