Job Summary:

Long Island University (LIU) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head Coach for Women’s Flag Football to oversee and lead all aspects of the program. This position requires an individual with strong leadership, recruiting, and coaching skills who is committed to fostering student-athlete success both academically and athletically. The head coach will be responsible for building a competitive team culture while maintaining compliance with NCAA regulations and university policies. This is a part-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching & Program Leadership:

• Plan and direct all training, practice sessions, and game strategies for the Women’s Flag Football program.
• Assess individual player abilities and skill levels to determine appropriate team roles.
• Develop student-athletes to reach their highest athletic potential through structured training and leadership development.
• Promote an environment that prioritizes academic achievement, sportsmanship, and personal growth.

Recruiting & Program Development:

• Recruit, evaluate, and retain highly qualified student-athletes in coordination with the Admissions Office.
• Develop relationships with high school coaches, club teams, and potential recruits to grow the program.
• Ensure all student-athletes meet academic and health eligibility requirements.

Program Administration & Compliance:

• Maintain full compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies, including Title IX regulations.
• Assist the Athletic Director in making sound decisions regarding program operations, budgeting, facilities, and public relations.
• Manage team equipment needs, budget planning, and fundraising efforts.
• Oversee and enforce all athletic department policies and procedures.

Community & Alumni Engagement:

• Promote the Women’s Flag Football program through social media, community outreach, and alumni engagement.
• Organize team events, fundraising initiatives, and partnerships with local organizations.
• Collaborate with the Athletics Communications department to highlight team achievements.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Experience: 4-6 years of coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, or club level.
• Demonstrated commitment to NCAA guidelines, compliance, and regulations.
• Proven success in recruiting and developing student-athletes.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Experience managing budgets and vendor contracts.
• Ability to analyze data and apply metrics-based decision-making strategies.
• A history of working effectively in a collaborative environment.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience coaching at the club or Highschool level
• Knowledge of game analytics and advanced coaching strategies.
• Demonstrated experience in program-building and community engagement.
