## Job Description

 

**Title:** FXD Athletic Trainer Fellow

 

**VP Area:** Athletics Director Office - General

 

**Department:** Training Room

 

**Work Schedule:** Irregular

**Employee Classification:&amp;nbsp;** Fixed Term Staff

**Job Purpose:**

 

Supports the athletic programs of the University by providing athletic training services to student athletes.

 

**Essential Functions:**

 
- **90% - Athletic Training&amp;nbsp;** 
  - Provides athletic training coverage for practices and events as assigned.
  - Treats athletic injuries occurring to varsity athlete that does not require a physician&#39;s services.
  - Evaluates all injuries for determination of treatment.
  - Collaborates with professional medical staff in rehabilitation program development for student-athletes to assist in their recovery.
  - Communication with strength and conditioning staff, coaches, and student-athletes in regard to injury prevention, rehabilitation and return to play plans.
  - Works with all athletes and coaches in the prevention of athletic related injuries.
  - Refers athletes for further care arising from conditions indicated on the physical examination.
  - Contributes through departmental policies, procedures, and actions to University-wide gender equity and cultural diversity efforts and to foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation.
  - Maintain certification through the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC), as well as remain a member in &quot;good standing&quot; of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), maintains Washington State Athletic Trainer License.

 
- **5% - NCAA Compliance** 
  - Employees of Gonzaga University&#39;s Athletic Department must comply with all NCAA rules and regulations, and acknowledge this compliance as part of an evaluation process.

**Educational Requirement:**

 
- Bachelor&#39;s Degree

 

**Years of Related Experience Requirement:**

 
- \&lt;1 year
- In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.&amp;nbsp;

 

**Certifications and/or Licensures:**

 
- BOC Certification by the time the position starts.
- Eligible for an athletic training license in the state of Washington.
- Current CPR/AED for Healthcare Providers certification (or equivalent)

 

**Skills &amp; Abilities:**

 
- Energetic and motivated self-starter with strong organization skills, ability to meet deadlines and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate and work well in a diverse university, community and athletic department environments.
- Ability to communicate in an effective manner, in writing and verbally, with numerous constituencies.
- Ability to be detail-oriented in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
- Demonstrated working relationships with administrators, support staff, medical community, coaches and patients/student-athletes.
- Knowledge and/or a working understanding of medical records, insurance and evaluation following HIPAA and FERPA.
- Excellent administrative, organizational, time management, computer application, communication and personnel management skills.
- Ability to travel, work evenings and weekends as needed for position duties

 

**Preferred Qualifications:**

 
- One year of Athletic Training experience

**Pay Range:**

 

Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): 24.90

 

Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): 31.11

 

Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): 37.33
