Job Summary

 

Provide athletic training services to intercollegiate athletes, including injury prevention, clinical evaluation, emergency care, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement. Support student-athlete well-being and serve as a healthcare resource for athletic programs within the university setting.

Responsibilities

 

Typical Allocation of Duties:

Athletic Injury Prevention, Assessment, and Rehabilitation - 50%

Provide direct care to student-athletes including evaluation, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of orthopedic and sports-related injuries. Develop individualized care plans and maintain accurate and confidential medical documentation in accordance with legal and university standards.

Event and Practice Coverage - 20%

Serve as the primary athletic trainer for assigned sports. Provide coverage for practices, home events, and travel as needed. Coordinate emergency action planning and serve as on-site first responder for athletic events.

Education, Compliance, and Collaboration -  20%

Educate student-athletes, coaches, and staff on injury prevention, wellness, hydration, and nutrition. Collaborate with team physicians, physical therapists, and other health professionals. Ensure compliance with NCAA, institutional, and state athletic training regulations and standards of care.

Referral and Follow-up Care - 10%

Make timely referrals to external medical providers when needed. Coordinate specialist appointments and diagnostic procedures. Monitor and assist with return-to-play protocols to ensure safe reintegration into sport.

Required Qualifications

 

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field and three (3) years of related work experience. Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers. Current State of Georgia Athletic Trainer License in good standing.
