Under the general direction of the Head Women’s Swimming Coach, the coach will assist with all aspects of the management of a competitive

NCAA

DII

Swimming & diving program, managed in accordance with

NCAA

, Great Midwest Athletic Conference (

GMAC

), and Hillsdale College policies and regulations. Areas of responsibility include swim technique and skill instruction, recruitment of student-athletes, student-athlete development, assist in budget management, travel and equipment assist with fundraising and community engagement activities, adherence to

NCAA

/

GMAC

legislation, and other duties as assigned. Full-time, 12-month position with College benefits package.

ESSENTIAL

JOB

FUNCTIONS

Assist in conducting daily practices and coaching at all meets.

Monitor and assist strength and conditioning coach in directing dryland.

Assist in recruiting and contacting potential student-athletes.

Coordinate all team social media for recruiting and on-line marketing purposes.

Provide Sports Information Director with results and any additional information.

Assist in management of home swimming and diving meets.

Coordinate travel and pre-meet meals and grocery needs for both home and away swim meets.

Coordinate and supervise study tables for student-athletes.

Coordination and tracking of all student-athlete personal apparel orders.

Supervise fund raising activities for the program.

Adhere to all

GMAC

and

NCAA

rules and regulations.

Additional office or administrative duties as determined by the Athletic Director.

A top priority must be the overall collegiate experience of the student-athlete and creating a positive and healthy team-first culture that encourages learning and development.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION

AND

EXPERIENCE

This position requires a thorough understanding of the training, techniques, and strategies of the sport of swimming and diving. A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required, with a Master’s Degree preferred; and/or a combination of education, training, or experience that fulfills the needs of the College. A competitive swimming background would be helpful in meeting the requirements of this position.

Knowledge of the sport of diving and certification for safety measures including concussion protocols.

Have a thorough understanding of the skill technique and race strategies for all swimming events.

Possess and maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid and

CPR

certification.

Possess effective oral and written communication skills.

Possess strong human relations skills.
