Job Summary
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach supports the design, implementation, and supervision of strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes across all sports. This position ensures safe and effective training strategies that enhance athletic performance, reduce injury risk, and support overall student-athlete development.
Essential Job Duties
- Assist in the planning and execution of sport-specific strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs
- Work directly with head coaches to develop tailored programs that align with team and individual athlete goals
- Supervise student-athletes during training sessions to ensure proper technique and safety
- Provide guidance on nutrition, recovery, and injury prevention in coordination with athletic trainers and sports medicine staff
- Maintain accurate records of student-athlete workouts, progress, and testing results
- Help manage the operation and upkeep of weight room facilities and equipment
- Ensure compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations
- Serve as a positive role model, promoting discipline, accountability, and teamwork
- Perform other duties assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field
- Master’s preferred
- Certification by NSCA (CSCS), CSCCA (SCCC), or other nationally recognized strength and conditioning organization
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certified
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level
Physical Demands
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to walk short distances
- Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
- Ability to prepare and analyzing data and figures
- Ability to view a computer terminal; extensive reading
- Ability to lift at least 10 pounds
Skills and Attributes

NCAA rules and regulations
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for developing student-athletes
Ability to:
Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as require
