Position Summary
Doane University is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated coach to join Doane Athletics as an Assistant Softball Coach. The Assistant Softball Coach is responsible for coordinating recruiting efforts, organizing summer camps, and collaborating with the Head Softball Coach to develop practice and game plans. This role includes providing individual and small group instruction, conducting post-game video analysis, scouting talent, and meeting individually with the head coach and student-athletes.
The Assistant Coach is also expected to attend all practices, games, and team meetings, as well as travel with the team for away competitions. Recruiting duties may include, but are not limited to: scouting and talent evaluation, planning and coordinating campus visits, managing phone and email communication, handling mailings and social media outreach, and maintaining the recruiting database.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience considered, with previous experience playing or coaching at the collegiate or professional level.
Experience must demonstrate:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with athletes, parents, and fellow coaching staff.
- The ability to effectively recruit and retain student-athletes
- Strong organizational skills for planning and scheduling training sessions and tournaments
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for developing athletes.
- Ability to adapt coaching methods to accommodate athletes
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive training environment.
- The ability to represent Doane University in a positive and effective manner
Preferred Qualifications
Required Licenses/Certifications
Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the college’s automobile insurance provider.
