Summary of Position:

This is a 12-month position. Assist the Head Men’s Basketball Coach in all facets of the basketball program including coordinating and directing specific areas of the program.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Required Work Experience:

Two years of coaching experience at a collegiate or high school level. Experience with player development.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:

Prior Ferris State University experience. Overseas playing experience one or more years. NCAA tournament experience, GLIAC Experience one or more years. Successful college basketball career. AAU experience.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Office Administrative Duties: Telephone and email inquiries, maintaining electronic filing system, creating document templates, post and copy tasks.
Assists with Practice Planning; review plans with input; player development.
Assist with game duties: Match-ups, pregame routine, scouting report, substitution pattern, clipboard system.
Assist with budgeting including Concur.
Assist with Marketing/Fundraising: Produce the “Straight off the Glass” newsletter. Sit on the board of the Rebounders Booster Club.
Scouting Coordinator: Create Scouting reports, prepare and present personnel film to players.
Recruiting Coordinator: Plan and schedule recruiting calendar, maintain an up-to-date prospect database
Strength and Conditioning Monitor: Assist Strength and Conditioning Staff with player development.
Equipment Coordinator: Work with equipment manager to order equipment, responsible for equipment and inventory records.
Community Service Coordinator: Collect requests and organize selected requests.
Director of work study and student management staff: Recruit and manage all work study and student managers, create individual jobs descriptions.
Camp Director: Design, market, and implement all camp offerings.
Academic Director: Monitor student athletes academic progress, implement academic support programs.
Compliance Director: Responsible for compliance paperwork
Travel Director: Plan all aspects of team travel including detailed itineraries.
Reports directly to the Head Basketball Coach. Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information.
Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.
Operates university motor or personal vehicles safely while carrying out job responsibilities.
Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

Assume Head Coaches’ responsibilities in his absence.
