Assistant Hockey Equipment Manager
Department: Athletics

POSITION SUMMARY
Report To: Associate Athletic Director
Classification: Administrator
The equipment manager will manage all hockey equipment and apparel under university standards and
NCAA guidelines, minimizing equipment loss. This role involves managing vital support services and
advising coaches and administrators on equipment matters. In conjunction with the full-time equipment
manager, this person will cover Men’s and Women’s hockey programs with all facets of equipment
management including skate sharpening, laundry, and travel coverage of teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Equipment Management
• Serve as the lead equipment manager for the women’s ice hockey team including attendance at practices
and competitions.
• Manage purchasing, distribution, tracking, and care of ice hockey equipment.
• Generate paperwork for orders and payments within budgetary guidelines.
• Manage annual equipment budgets for women's ice hockey.
• Maintain continuous inventory and assist coaches with purchasing schedules and equipment needs.
• Receive, disperse, or store deliveries.
• Maintain inventory on a computer database and manage service contracts on equipment.
Logistics and Planning
• Organize laundry, packing, and preparations for competitions.
• Obtain practice and contest schedules for trip planning.
• Determine athletes' daily equipment needs, including skate sharpening and maintenance.
Additional Duties
• Perform other duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution preferred.
• Equipment management experience in an ice hockey program, preferably at the collegiate level, or a
combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Knowledge of ice hockey equipment and supplies.
• Knowledge of ordering and inventory control.
• Proficiency in software applications: word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Position involves both inside sedentary work and active work.
•
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed around athletic schedules.
Frequent overnight travel.
