Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. International and national travel is required. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular on-site hours. Assistant Coach or Associate Head Coach may be offered depending on candidate qualifications and experience. 

This position is designated as an Administrative Officer and serves without a fixed term and at the pleasure of the President, pursuant to Regents Rule 20102 and the University’s Handbook of Operating Procedures 1-1020, “Officers of Administration.”

Purpose

Support the Texas Athletics Soccer program by coaching and mentoring student-athletes, assisting with recruitment, practice planning, and team operations. Ensure program excellence through leadership, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement while representing Texas Athletics and serving as a role model for student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Critically involved in all aspects of the program, is given specific autonomy, and contributes in key areas of the program including but not limited to these areas: Provide oversight and instruction in technique, conditioning and methods to execute and excel during competition.  Assist with practice planning and coordination of team play.  Assist with training, mentoring and developing elite student-athletes.  Assist with successfully recruiting student-athletes to the program who are outstanding in the sport of Soccer and who are capable, responsible, accountable representatives of the University.

• Significant responsibility in (but not limited to) these areas: Assist with managing external day to day operations, provide input on scheduling and team travel logistics, assist with coordinating off campus recruiting, and scouting opponents.  Assist with camp administration. Ensure fiscal responsibility related to budgeting.

• Develop and maintain effective interaction with student-athletes, colleagues, university staff, alumni, media, and the general public. Promote the Soccer team and University.  Assist with community outreach and community events.  Participate in public appearances and serve as an outstanding role model to student athletes and as a representative of Texas Athletics and the University.  May represent the Head Coach at meetings, fund-raising functions and alumni events.

• Drive a UT or rental vehicle on and off campus.

• Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics. Always act ethically. Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. In compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and Texas Education Code Sec. 51.252, this position may be a Non-Confidential Employee as defined by University policies on Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Interpersonal Violence and Stalking.  As a Non-Confidential Employee, individuals employed in this position will report incidents of such prohibited conduct to the University’s Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Title IX Coordinator as required by applicable law or University policy. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Experience as a professional soccer player or as an assistant or head soccer coach at an elite program, high school, college or pro level.  Ability to collaborate with staff and provide critical thinking. Professional demeanor and ability to project the image of the University of Texas and the Athletics Department with dignity and grace regardless of circumstances and environments.  Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enhance interaction with student-athletes, peers, alumni, administrative personnel, and the community. Demonstrated commitment to The University of Texas Intercollegiate Athletics Core Values: Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Community Engagement, Creativity, Accountability and Loyalty. 

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated success in recruiting elite student-athletes to participate in the sport of Soccer. Current and working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
