The Special Assistant to the Head Coach, Men’s Basketball and Recruiting Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the men’s basketball program, including all aspects of team travel and equipment liaison activities.

This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and travel for competition and recruiting.

Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate with Development on production of all special events.

Serve as primary contact with various internal constituents, such as event management, public relations, marketing, sports information, the business office and others in cooperation with their efforts regarding men’s basketball.

Assist in developing and maintaining public relations programs.

Act as a liaison on all men’s basketball external programs.

Act as a liaison with CATS Academic.

Acts as a liaison with the Compliance Office.

Serve as Point of Contact with Athletics Compliance regarding NCAA, Big-12 and institutional rules associated with the recruiting process.

Oversee Director, On-Campus Recruiting and Basketball Analytics and Director, Student-Athlete Development.

Coordinate team travel arrangements and act as liaison between the basketball program and other areas within the department.

Coordinate usage and preparation of basketball facilities and equipment for use in practice and games.

Supervise student managers.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of NCAA and Big-12 rules and regulations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.

Dedication and motivation to initiate, lead and support value-added projects.

Meticulous attention to detai.

Knowledge of position related rules and compliance (Example: NCAA, Big -12 knowledge).

Self-motivated, results-oriented, and has a positive demeanor.

Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities and successfully manage multiple priority projects.

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relations.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels, and project a positive, professional attitude.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.

Two (2) years of experience with a Division I basketball program.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree.

Three (3) years of experience with a Division I basketball program.
