The Position

Responsible for the education, coaching and development of the students within the men’s and women’s swimming program. Manages the program including scheduling, recruitment of student-athletes, budget management, equipment ordering and inventory, public relations, and assessment.

Key Responsibilities** :**

  • Teaches students the art, craft, and science of the sport of swimming. Develops and directs an effective program fostering the academic, athletic and personal growth of student-athletes.
  • Ensures goals are consistent with those of Roanoke College, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III.
  • Ensure that the health, safety, integration to campus life and academic pursuits of student-athletes are managed for full academic and athletic success.
  • Manages the budget for the program and tracks expenditures carefully. Works closely with the Athletic Director and/or the Maroon Club Coordinator to raise necessary funds for initiatives beyond budget.
  • Responsible for hiring, professional development, and evaluation of assistant swimming coach.
