The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (Wisconsin Athletics) is seeking an Event Services Manager to support the Guest Services and Event Management departments in the planning and execution of safe and fan-friendly events.
This role assists in the development and supervision of student employees and manages operations that impact the guest experience at athletic department hosted events. Additionally, the position serves as the primary event manager for select events and acts as an operational liaison with the Badger Sports Camps office. Success in this role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as it involves close engagement with staff, campus partners, vendors, and guests. This position is under the general supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations.
This role will focus on:
Assisting in the management of the Guest Services student employee team of approximately 80 students. Supervision of student employees includes overseeing elements of their hiring, training, scheduling, skill development, event assignments, and performance tracking.
Serving as the primary event manager for select events. This includes collaborating with coaches, staff, university departments, vendors, and external clients to plan events, and creating and managing event plans, diagrams, and staff directives with cross-functional teams.
Developing budgeting and financial documents to track operational expenses.
Serving as an operationally minded planning liaison with the Badger Sports Camps office.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Establishes and executes day-to-day operational functions and goals of events to align with existing strategy
Establishes and sustains relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Monitors the budget and approves expenditures
Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees

Compensation:
The starting salary for the position is $56,112 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications)
Required Qualifications:
Minimum two (2) years professional work experience in an athletics or entertainment industry setting.
Strong customer service skills with an ability to teach and train others on guest related best practices.
Excellent communication, administrative, organizational, problem-solving, and time/project management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and clients of varying backgrounds, interests, and abilities in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office software applications.
Knowledge of crowd management, safety/security procedures, and accessibility accommodation services.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing event staffing plans and supervising event day employees.
Either proficient or possessing the ability to learn industry specific event software programs including facility and employee scheduling software; event operations management software such as 24/7; and computer aided design software such as social tables or CAD.
Understanding of NCAA, Big Ten, and WCHA rules/regulations.
Previous experience in athletics administration and event planning for a collegiate or professional organization.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Athletic Administration, or related fields is preferred.
