DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the direction of the Head Certified Athletic Trainer or designee, individual will assist in the care/prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and providing emergency care and first aid for injuries and illnesses to intercollegiate student-athletes.
- Assists Certified Athletic Trainer staff with coverage of workouts and/or practices.
- Assists in administering pre-participation physicals to meet NCAA Division I standards.
- In case of major injury or illness, refers the student-athlete to the Team Physician. If the Team Physician or Head Athletic Trainer cannot be contacted in emergency situations, makes arrangements for the student-athlete to receive competent medical care.
- May supervise student athletic trainers.
- Operates, supervises and maintains the Athletic Training Facilities and equipment.
- If necessary, coordinates medical appointments and transportation for the student-athlete.
- Promotes and maintains an environment where the physical, mental, social and academic well-being of all student-athletes are a priority.
- Assists the Head Athletic Trainer in referring and scheduling appointments for injured student athletes who need extended care to various physicians, hospitals and other health services. Transports student athletes to medical appointments as necessary.
- Maintains confidentiality to include but not limited to information, files and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess, in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawai‘i policies.
- Responsible for performing the duties of a Campus Security Authority as defined by University policy and federal law with regards to the Clery Act.
- Maintains collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the department, other college offices, and appropriate relationships with members of the media, donors, and other individuals interested in the Athletics Department.
- Knows, recognizes, and complies with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawaii and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future.
- Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students, or others have occurred or will occur.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree
Valid Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer.
Valid CPR/AED Certification.
Some intercollegiate sports medicine experience
Ability to travel independently to various geographical locations in a timely manner. Required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
