Villanova University Athletics has immediate opening for a temporary (fill-in) Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC).
Under the license of our Team Physician, assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in all activities related to the delivery of health-care to our varsity student-athletes (sports assigned by Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine), which includes working cooperatively and in conjunction with the Strength & Conditioning Staff. Design, implement and supervise appropriate treatment and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes, by maximizing and individualizing integrated training programs to achieve desired outcomes. Fill-in coverage for teams and events as needed.
Perform all duties in compliance with all rules, regulations, and bylaws of the NCAA, associated Conferences, and University relating to the conduct and administration of the program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the coordination and supervision of the delivery of health care to assigned programs. Fill-in coverage as needed.
- Responsible for all phases of health care
- Design and implement treatment and rehab programs for time-loss and surgical rehab cases.
- Assist with the implementation of the Athletics Department Drug Testing Program
- Serve as a liaison between Sports Medicine staff and Strength & Conditioning staff regarding rehabilitation programs.
- Assist in the management of external accounts, including pharmacy and Physical therapy. Serving as liaison with the Health Center and outside medical practices associated with the care of varsity student athletes.
- Responsible for the daily electronic medical documentation for all student-athletes.
- Assist with the daily operation and maintenance of the athletic training facility.
- Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in sports medicine/athletic training or related field; current NATABOC certification; Pennsylvania Athletic Training Class A Certification required by start date.
- Current CPR/AED Certification.
Minimum Work Experience
- At least 1 year athletic training experience including preventive, evaluative, and rehabilitative skills.
- Must have knowledge of health care insurance issues and drug testing protocols.
- Must have extensive experience with post-surgical rehabilitation. Experienced with therapeutic modalities and rehabilitative equipment.
- Ability to keep good records, including S.O.A.P. notes, daily rehab updates, and injury reports and proficiency with personal computer applications necessary.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate and instruct during rehab and functional training protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with a variety of sports. Collegiate level experience a plus.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and possible travel.
