WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Associate/Director of Licensingserves in the Department of Athletics and reports to the Assistant AD for Brand Partnerships. This position is responsible for assisting with the management of Baylor’s Trademark Licensing program by establishing regular communication with university partners, licensed vendors and retailers, and Baylor’s licensing agency CLC, as well as enforcing brand standards on licensed goods through artwork submission approvals and direct correspondence with various stakeholders.

A Bachelor’s Degree is required along with one year of experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A master’s degree and 3 years of experience is preferred.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Manage relationship with third party collegiate trademark licensing and marketing agent, Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC).
• Assist with the research, design, implementation and management of trademark licensing and merchandising programs to maximize revenue-generating opportunities within the Athletics department.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national licensees and retailers to enhance the brand and increase sales of Baylor-branded goods.
• Collaborate regularly with Athletics External Leadership team, including Marketing, Creative Services, NIL Team and Playfly MMR teams to identify and maximize licensing opportunities.
• Liaise with Baylor University Marketing and others on campus to ensure brand alignment and shared goals with licensed goods.
• Analyze existing licensee performance including distribution channels, product categories, inventories, trends, placements, and royalties to ensure prominent visibility and availability in the market and increased revenues. Provide regular oversight, revenue reporting, and business insights to senior leadership on merchandise and licensing partners.
• Enhance and protect the Baylor and Baylor Athletics name, brand, and reputation by reviewing and approving artwork submissions and new license requests, adhering to policies and procedures. Responsible for university policy on Licensing University Trademarks. Collaborate and cooperate with institutional general counsel on the enforcement of trademark and IP protection.
• Serve as an internal and external resource for issues related to trademark licensing and enforcement, licensing programs, brand identity and logo development.
• Knowledge of and adherence to all NCAA rules, policies, and procedures pertaining to the trademark licensing, merchandising, and corporate sponsorship functions of the department.
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
• Ability to comply with University policies
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance

Financial Responsibilities

• Responsible for driving trademark licensing and merchandise revenue budgets on an annual basis.
