Position Description:

Valparaiso University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Track and Field Coach specializing in Sprints and Hurdles. This position is responsible for the development and coaching of student-athletes in sprint and hurdle events, recruiting prospective student-athletes, and supporting the overall goals of the Track and Field program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes, as well as to fostering a positive team culture.

Major Responsibilities:

• Design and implement training programs for 60m up to potentially 800m and hurdle events.
• Provide technical and tactical instruction during practices and competitions.
• Assist with team travel, meet planning, and event management.
• Identify and recruit prospective student-athletes who align with the university’s values and academic standards.
  
• Monitor academic performance and provide guidance to ensure student-athlete success.
• Assist with administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Track and Field.
• Maintain compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Valparaiso UniversityBachelor’s degree required.
• Prior coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, or club level in sprints and/or hurdles.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Other Qualifications:

• Preferred - Master's degree
• Experience coaching at the NCAA Division I level
