Job Description
McMurry University is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Coach to support all aspects of the university’s track & field program. This role involves direct coaching responsibilities in one or more event areas, assisting with recruiting, mentoring student-athletes, and supporting administrative and compliance functions, in alignment with the university’s mission and NCAA Division III rules.
Essential Duties Summary
Assist the Head Coach with planning and implementing daily practice sessions and competition strategies for the track and field program.
Specialize in one or more event areas (e.g., sprints, hurdles, distance, jumps, throws, pole vault) and provide expert instruction and technical development.
Support the recruitment of prospective student-athletes who fit the academic and athletic profile of the university.
Monitor the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes.
Help manage meet entries, equipment inventory, travel logistics, and other administrative duties.
Foster a team environment that emphasizes respect, accountability, integrity, and sportsmanship.
Adhere to all NCAA, conference, and institutional policies, including rules compliance and safety procedures.
Represent the university positively in interactions with alumni, community members, and prospective students.
Attend departmental meetings, campus events, and professional development opportunities as required.
Required Qualifications
Must have Bachelor’s degree, strength and conditioning background and field event background for track athletes.

Physical Demands
Evening, nighttime, and weekend hours are common and expected.
