Job Description:
Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Assistant Director of Sports Performance and Head of Olympic Sports (GA222). You will play a key role in an elite Division I department that values the total student-athlete experience. This position offers valuable on-field and off-field experience designed to prepare you for future leadership and director-level opportunities.
This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and schedule sport-specific strength, conditioning, and speed programs for Baseball
- Oversee strength and conditioning programs for 2-3 additional Olympic sports teams as assigned by the Director of Sports Performance
- Manage day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Pomp Sports Performance Center
- Supervise assistant sports performance coaches for Olympic sports
- Develop and deliver education and curriculum for the graduate assistant (GA) and intern development program
- Assist with daily supplements and nutritional needs of athletes
- Coordinate and manage the Pomp Performance Center
- Support the Director of Sport Performance in educating and managing sport performance assistants, graduate assistants and interns
Requirements:
- Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with equivalent training and work experience in a professional or collegiate setting
- CSCS or SCCC certification required
- CPR/AED certification required
- Prior experience with baseball athletes required
- USA Weightlifting Coach Certification preferred
- Prior experience leading a sports performance department at the collegiate level preferred
Additional Information:
This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. A successful fingerprint-based criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
