Job Description
The Assistant Director performs duties to ensure institutional compliance with department, institutional, state, federal, NCAA and ACC guidelines. Supports the Office of Compliance team with the overall operations of athletics compliance including compliance-related projects and other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Compliance or their designee.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordination of day-to-day compliance activities; serve as liaison with multiple offices on campus; athletics, registrar, financial aid, housing, admissions; provide legislative and interpretive guidelines for institution; oversight of specific compliance components as noted in job responsibility section.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree/Juris Doctor preferred.
- One year of experience in applying Division I NCAA rules and regulations at a Division I institution and actual experience with compliance and policy issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
- Working knowledge of Compliance Assistant Software, LSDBi, and Teamworks suite. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Willing to work evening and weekend hours
Responsibilities
- Perform initial eligibility assessments for prospective student athletes.
- Perform admissions and international admissions clearing functions for prospective student athletes.
- Provide interpretative answers to questions from coaches, staff, and student athletes.
- Educate coaches and student-athletes on NCAA rules.
- Write violation self-reports and NCAA waivers.
- Monitors incoming transfers.
- Processes Official/Unofficial Visits.
- Supports tracking and monitoring of Time Demands Legislation and CARA.
- Oversees the University’s Recruiting Program.
- Oversees Individual Associated with a Prospect (IAWP) Program.
- Oversees compliance program and roster management for individual sports, as experience permits.
