Responsibilities
- Coach Men’s Track & Field in a substantive manner that is consistent with the educational mission of the University.
- Assist in the preparation necessary to compete at the Division I level.
- Assist the head coach with the planning and execution of all practices.
- Successfully identify and recruit student-athletes within the framework of the University guidelines and policies.
- The assistant coach will be responsible for a wide variety of administrative tasks including but not limited to CARA Forms, recruiting logs, calendars, rosters and other various reports for NCAA and Ivy League compliance related issues.
- Work effectively with administrators, the support staff, and other coaches and programs within the Department of Athletics.
- Communicate effectively with various institutional constituencies (e.g., faculty, administration, students, parents, staff, alumni and friends) in order to strengthen programmatic integration with the University.
- Assist with the development of the Friends Group.
- Adhere to Ivy League, ECAC and NCAA rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent coaching experience.
- Successful background in coaching track & field.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage team dynamics.
- Demonstrated organizational ability for practice, program management, and recruiting.
- An understanding of the fundamental role that intercollegiate athletics, properly implemented, can play in the educational development of our student-athletes.
- Ability to uphold the commitment to Department of Athletics mission and values of Education Through Athletics.
- Proficient with MS office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification subsequent to the date of hire.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Track & Field coaching experience preferably at the collegiate and/or professional level.
